A very interesting Kyoto-e collaborative scroll, each element painted in watercolor and ink on silk by a separate artist, likely the product of the groups early days at the Kyoto school of painting circa 1920. The bamboo is signed Koho (Miyao Koji, b. 1901) who was a student of Unho. The berried plant by Shizan (Saito Shizan, 1902-1963), a student of Yamamoto Shunkyo. The cherry blossoms are signed Sosui. Unfortunately the bird signatures are too abbreviated to be read. The scene is mounted in vibrant green brocade, and features dark hardwood rollers. It measures 13 by 72-1/2 inches (32.5 x 184 cm). There are a few scattered spots (not foxing), and a smudge in the upper right corner of the painted surface, the border cloth is in excellent condition.
